Let’s make some noise!

2015-06-12

WYD is getting closer…
The WYD Krakow 2016 Organization Committee is making it its top priority to invite you to come in droves albeit on such short notice and make yourselves heard (and seen!) at Przystanek Jezus (in Polish: The Station "Jesus), the annual Christian youth festival in Western Poland. Imagine, the massive crowds of young people, especially those who have never had the chance to participate in Przystanek Jezus coming together at one of Poland’s most popular Christian music festivals. It just won’t be the same without you!

So… what is Przystanek Jezus?
If you’ve never had the opportunity to learn about or participate in Przystanek Jezus, well now’s your chance. It’s just one of the steps that we’ll be taking to get everyone set and ready to, as Pope Francis stressed in 2013, make some noise (and if anything, raise hell!) for the upcoming World Youth Day. We’re hoping this will get people to discover their hidden courage and potential to allow them to let any stranger or passerby know of God’s compassion and let him or her know and feel how really loved they are by the Lord.

Why Przystanek Jezus?
Since 1999,this festival has been one of the broadest and open evangelical initiative in Poland. This Christian event that takes place alongside the Woodstock music festival (at Woodstock’s dismay) is gaining traction and attracting more and more people ever year who have now acquired the humorous moniker “Jezuski” Back in 2012, as close to 1000 lay people and clergy alike went out into the fields of Woodstock to evangelize, we want to surpass that number in 2015.

Przystanek Jezus from its inception was designed to create a bridge between the followers of Jesus and the concert goers of Woodstock taking place in Poland. This year however for the first time, the volunteers at WYD Krakow 2016 will be put to task (between July 26th and August 2nd  2015 in Kostrzyn near the shores of the Oder River that border Germany) after a several day spiritual retreat to go out strike up a conversation with the participants of Woodstock. That way we can set into motion the evangelical fervor and enthusiasm surrounding God and the idea behind World Youth Day and prepare ourselves mentally and physically for the welcoming of millions of young people from around the world in 2016! A million people from all four corners of the globe will come together to experience God’s love and we have a chance to be a key part of it. We can’t do it without you.

I don’t think I have it in me to go out into the fields. Is there anything else I can do instead?

Many of you may not be prepared or capable of thrusting yourself into the massive crowds of Woodstock and that’s perfectly fine! Przystanek Jezus is in need of helping hands in all sorts of tasks and jobs. Whatever your level of charisma, there will always be room for you. Perhaps you’d be more interested in taking care of makeshift headquarters (the Tent of Adoration), or volunteer as support whenever or wherever need be. We’ll need all the help we can get and all the strength that you can muster up!

Let’s meet up in Krakow
