The Royal Castle

Truly, any enthusiast of history must visit this place. You can currently explore 71 rooms in the Royal Castle, allowing you to learn details about monarchical life in the royal chambers and private suites as well as how the Treasury and Armory were equipped. A special place is the Deputies Hall, which is also called "Underneath the Heads". In its ceiling were 194 carved wooden heads, and even though today there are only 30, visitors still appreciate them. The Portal which leads to the seat of the ancient Polish Kings bears the quote from St. Paul: Si Deus nobiscum quis contra nos (If God is for us, who can be against us). It leads to a courtyard surrounded by three tiers of extraordinary Renaissance cloisters. It is a charming place, today used as a space for concerts of classical music. The interior of the Royal Palace also offers a unique collection of Oriental souvenirs and a collection of 136 arrases- unusual tapestries from the 16th century. In one of the Chambers of the Castle you can also see the beautiful "Lady with an Ermine" by Leonardo da Vinci.
